When Tory + Heath asked me to photograph their intimate elopement at Braemar Station, I was so excited! They booked out Station Cottage which had EPIC views of Mount Cook so you know I was counting down the months + days for this day.
T + H kept their elopement very intimate, only having their son and both sides of parents help celebrate. They also didn’t tell any friends or extended family members. They wanted to elope in peace and take time the following days to reach out to everyone separately and spill the amazing news.
T + H booked a five hour elopement package with me which was the PERFECT amount of time for their elopement day vision. Within the five hours I was able to capture a few getting ready moments, ceremony, family photos, bride + groom portraits at a separate location, mingling photos, cake cutting, first dance and I even had time to sit down with everyone for a few moments and eat dinner.
I appreciated how slow pace their day was as we had just enough breathing room to take breaks from the sun in the air conditioning and I really got to know both sides of the parents. We all became so comfortable with one another because of that down time for me to make conversation and chat to each person.
T + H did an amazing job with making their elopement day their own. Although they eloped, they still did a few “traditional” wedding activities – such as first dance, cake cutting + speeches. It’s a nice reminder that just because you’re eloping, doesn’t mean you have to leave out some of your favourite parts about a wedding day!
This was my second time photographing an elopement at Braemar Station and I am SO excited for all of my next ones. The way Mount Cook serves as a beautiful backdrop is something I will never get sick of!
