Kara + Dan’s May Intimate Elopement

To me, elopements resonate the most with couples who are quietly in love. The couples that love each others company the most and want their wedding day to be nothing less of that. Sometimes, the more people involved with wedding planning, the more stressed you can become. There becomes a lot of people in your corner voicing ideas and opinions and it’s hard to focus on yours – which is the most important!!

Kara + Dan planned their DREAM elopement in Timaru, New Zealand with only a couple people knowing. They’re both very close to their family so they didn’t want to leave them out of the full celebration.

Kingsdown Manor Wedding, Events and B&B – A stunning historic boutique wedding venue

Kara + Dan started their elopement day off by checking into the Kingsdown Manor B&B. They spent the morning enjoying each others company, excited to see how their closest family members are going to react when they find out they’re getting MARRIED. The nerves were kicking, excitement was growing, and their patience was slowly slipping away (in the best way!).

The property of Kingsdown Manor is so beautiful. It’s newly renovated and offers a vintage chapel, barn reception hall, and accomodation for your wedding day.

Kara + Dan really wanted to keep their wedding simple so they decided to get ready together at the Manor, take a few bride + groom photos at a couple locations, then head to the Timaru Botanical Gardens for their wedding ceremony.

Although, Kara + Dan didn’t host their ceremony + reception at the Manor, the Manor offers three packages that you could book for yours:

Kingsdown Manor Wedding Event Packages

Olive Package: A full day package including use of chapel, hall, gardens, bridal dressing room and décor available for use.

Rose Package: A full day package including use of hall, chapel, gardens, bridal dressing room and  catering can be organised, honeymoon suite included.

Peony Package: A full day package including use of chapel, hall, gardens, hall décor, and up to 4 rooms of accommodation. We can organise your catering.

About a 5 minute drive from Kingsdown Manor, there’s Ellis Street which has access to a peninsula walk and a beautiful beach. Aside from the Manor property, the beach was a perfect additional location for more bride and groom photos before we headed to the gardens.

At last, Kara + Dan surprised their family at the Timaru Botanical Gardens. Kara had a couple family members round up their family and told them they’d be having family photos taken. I showed up early and pretended I was their family photographer haha! I’d say the majority of the family members had a tiny idea, but the surprise was priceless and both their parents were ecstatic to be there for the wedding.
