Luxury backyard weddings hold a special place in my heart – the comfort I feel of being around someones home, full of so many memories from years before and little keepsakes that are displayed around are so wholesome to me and feel it makes your wedding photos even more meaningful :’) In 2024 + 2025, I’m manifesting more luxury backyard / paddock weddings! I wanted to share with you all my top tips to help you plan YOUR dream luxury backyard wedding.

Set the Scene with Stunning Decor

Your backyard is a blank canvas waiting to be transformed! Start by choosing a theme that reflects your style – think bohemian chic, classic elegance, or a rustic garden party. Use string lights, chandeliers, or lanterns to create a romantic ambiance. Don’t forget the power of flowers – a mix of high-end florals with more affordable blooms can create a luxurious feel without breaking the bank. Consider a statement piece like a floral arch or a beautifully set table as a focal point!

Create an Intimate Atmosphere

The beauty of a backyard wedding is the intimacy it offers. Arrange seating in a way that encourages conversation and closeness. Think about lounge areas with comfortable seating, or a fire pit where guests can gather as the evening cools. Personalised touches like custom cocktails or a photo wall with your journey as a couple can make guests feel even more connected to your love story.

Who says backyard means BBQ only? Elevate your menu with a gourmet touch. Hire a professional chef or caterer to create a bespoke menu that reflects your tastes. I personally believe that music can make or break a party! I personally found backyard weddings who hire a DJ or live band are able to get guests off their chairs and onto the dance floor! Think about entertainment like a dance floor under the stars.

Ensure your guests are comfortable no matter the weather. Have umbrellas for shade or heaters and blankets for cooler evenings. Also, consider the practicality of amenities – adequate restroom facilities, lighting for when it gets dark, and perhaps even a small tent or area where guests can relax away from the loud festivities.

The ceremony is the heart of your wedding day. Write your own vows, choose readings that are meaningful to you, and consider involving close friends or family in the ceremony. The beauty of a backyard wedding is how personal and intimate it can be.

Have a Backup Plan

Always have a plan B in case of unpredictable weather! I highly recommend hiring some sort of tent or indoor space that can accommodate your guests can be a lifesaver. Consider hiring a marquee or tipi!
